Tho balance-sheet showed a debit, of: £3 7s. od. -The chairman,-report-ing on, the .year's operations/ said that the , shearers' dispute ■ had .been settled without going to the Arbitration Court,'- and tho agricultural .labourers' dispute had been settled /.....without ajiy award. .Regarding 'tho Parliamentary -he .pointed :out that; the Farmers' Union candidate had been successful in < the, Oroua, Manawatu,- and' Hawera , , electorates, ->and ■ sympathisers. lof • the, union had /been . successful tin •. many - other places. The Provincial.Conference:was jheld in-'Feild- ■, ing last -yearyand the .representatives' pre- - sent were entertained at a. banquet. The ; Provincial Organiser- .was' in= tho district' last . month, and .had sixteen' new- mem- , bers.' -The ,visit- .cost;-tho -.branch;-£5,- and he, thought it was paying ,pretty dearly for , mombersv _ The branch's efforts regarding haulage,-for stock had been fairly successful, ,-. and the .branch had: done some good by -shaking -up the v Railway- Department. Mr. ~. Booth also 'reported on the delegates' meet- ;. ingi at- -Woodville regarding , fclio establishj - ment of co-operativo freezing; works, ■■ stat,ing>that it had .been decided to go oil with the, .works,,,.-Ho believed the isworks would bo: established at Foxton. becauso that was tho only place where they could get the . - land; cheap. -Speaking ,;on the 'balance-sheet,' tho-chairman said they- had '107- members on the roll, but 33 of these had. not paid their annual subscriptions.
