The Eifle Volunteers held a parade on Friday evening, Captain Skey boing in command. Five recruits were sworn in. It is the intention of the company to hold a parade on Saturday evening nest. A Clareville poultry enthusiast, Mr. A. J.' Fisher, has entered a pen of black leghorns in.the Cambridge egg-laying contest, which commences on May 1. . . On _ Saturday morning, Messrs. A. Talbot, .Y.Higgins, and another, left here for Mount Holdsworth, and returned on Sunday night. 'A football : match was played on Saturday, afternoon between the local High School and Clarevillo Maori College. The game ended in a draw, each side scoring three points. Mr. A. .N. Burns was referee. A valuable horse, belonging to Mr. J. W. Compton, of Clareville, dropped dead at Taratahi on Friday evening, when being driven home.
