LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
PROPOSED WELLINGTON MEAT COMPANY.
Sir,—ln your issuo of 'Wednesday, April 14, I see a letter signed by "Interested, in which ho complains that tho Woodvillo branch of the Farmers' Union had not been invited to send a delegate to the Woodvillo conference to consider tho quostion of establishing a nDW freezing company. I very much regret tho oversight, and can only suppose it was caused through the change of secretaries that took place after the previous Masterton conference, but I know' that tile Woodvillo branch was invited to send a delegate to both tho Pahiatua and Mastorton conferences, but did not do so. With regard to the Weber-Herbortvillo district, I may explain that this important district is outsido tho Wellington province, and would not be dealt with by our local secretaries. Being awaro of this, I took it upon ravself to invito ropresontation ( and I have a letter from Mr. G. Franklin, in which ho explains that 1 ho wont to Woodvillo, but not there too late to attend the meoting. Mr. Franklin also states that his district would be likely >to givo tho movement good support.■', The other points mentioned in "Interested's" letter are being fully dealt with in the prospectus and articles of association, and if lie will oblige mo by sending his address I, will send him a typed copy in the course of a few days. After reading the samo, any suggestions he has to make will be fully considered boforo thopublication of tho'prospectus. Should the Woodvillo farmers requiro tho proposed company fully explained, I will be prepared to meet them when conveniont and deal with fne whole aim and objects... I have already undertaken to do this in a number of centres.—l am,' etc., .•■.-.■■ J. C. COOPER, Chairman of ; Provisional Directors, ■' Wellington Meat Company.
, BOROUGH COUNCIL. Sir, —In your issue ol to-day's date I notice a letter from, Mr. J. F. C. M'Clelland, secretary of tho Miramar llat-epayers . Association; with reference to tho rofnsalof the MiraraaV Borough Council to hold a public meoting asked for by his association, in which Mr. M'Clolland makes the following statement: "All that the association and residents wanted was information-they were, justly entitled to, and' which has not been given to them." Such a statement left unchallenged would convey a very erroneous impression. I publicly stated_ at my council meeting on Thursday evening last that the Miramar Council were prepared % at any time to give tho fullest information about the affairs of the borough. If some ratepayers, in spite of tho full information which has appeared in tho public press from time to time, aro of the opinion that greater elucidation is still required on certain matters, then tho ordinary course to follow would bo to approach tho council at once, when r any information required would, I am sure, be gladly and publicly given at the last meeting of the present council; which is to be held on Thursday evening next.—l am, 9tc, 0. J. CRAWFORD (Mayor).' April 17. ■'' '
