[Br Mainsheet.J - ' EASTER CRUISES.' •" On Thursday evening of last week a good few yachtsmen were at the boatharbour getting their boats ready for Easter. Tho fiyron and Kotiri • intended going to Port iUnderwood, but their trip was spoiled owing to the wind and sea freshening. Tho Syron got as far as tho entrance, but put back and sheltered in Scorching Bay.' Tho Kotiri 1 got as far as Island Bay, where she sheltered also. __e weather on Good Friday disappointed a good many.of the yachtainen by turning out .very rough and windy. The Janet and /White Heather loft the boat harbour at about 8.30 for Shelly Bay, and they both stayed there all night, the White Heather returning in the morning. Tho Janet sailed across ■ to Day's Bay, and put in part of the day there. In the afternoon sho hove up arichor and made for Scorching Bay, and there found the"Syren (who'had intended going to Port iUnderwood). Mahaki, and tho Nanova. ' The 'Janet left for town at about 5 o'clock, and had_ rathor a rough trip across the harbour, arriving homo at about 6.30. Tho Karaka set out, but, had to-put back again owing to her bob-stay carrying away. The following'yachts were cruising round tho harbour on Saturday afternoon:—Janet, Mahnki, Karaka, May, Ada, and the WareJiou. Tho sea was still very rough, and the wind strong. They returned-home, between four and-fivo o'clock. t On Sunday tho wind and sea had calmed down considerably. All the yachts left the » boat harbour undor full sail, with a light northerly, but, towards,noon, the wind veered ' to the south, and began to blow very hard. 'All tho yachts put into Kau Bay for the rest of the day, the following boats' boing anchored in tho Bay: Janet. Karaka, May, Syren, Patronus, Ngairo, White Heather, and ,the Mahakir Tho last-named wont for a cruiso tip the entrance. The following launches also, i visited tho bay: Mr.'Johnson's, Mr. Cooper's," and Mr. Bottimloy's. They left Kau Bay at about 4 o'clock for homo. Monday_ turned out a glorious day, all the yachts going out with just enough wind for them to carry full sail, Tho following wont over to Day's Bay; May, Janet, Waitangi, Kotin, and Mr. Jamieson's auxiliary yacht Ruihi. Thoro were also a few launches cruising over that way. . Karaka and Warehau were at Rona Bay. Tho lluihi went for a beat up tho entrance. Monday was also fino enough for the "mosquito 'fleet" to cruise, Tho 12-footers Rival, Winifred, and No Hurry proceeded for a beat up the ontrnnce and a littlo way outside. After coming in they moored nt Worsor Bay for tho rest of tho day. The' two latter had a good race home, tho Rival staying out till tho following day. Rambler and a small 12-foot sailing dinghy, tho Ivy, wont to Day's Bay, the latter arriving homo at about nine 0 clock in the ovoning. Syren camo home on Monday evening after having a cruise round tho harbour. > The Kotiri left Island Bay on Saturday tad wont across tho Strait for a emiso. 1 —______
