BUSINESS PREMISES DAMAGED. 031 TELEG It A I'll— I'll Est.* Stratford, April 14. A fire at midnight gutted tho shops of C. E. Hydo (bootmaker) and Colo (music warehouse). The stock of S. Fahey, tobacconist, adjoining, was damaged by smoke and water. The insurance on the buildings— owned by Mr. E. G. Colo, Auclitand—was £400 in the United office. Hyde's stock and fittings were insured for €395 in tho Sun offico, and Fahcy's stock, furniture, and fit tings for £200, also in tho Sun. The amount of Cole's insurance is not known to tho local manager. HOUSE BURNED AT MASTERTON. A dwolling-liouso situated at Homebush, twp miles from Masterton, owned by Mr, Augustus Petersen, and tenanted by Mr. J.imcs Coo]>er, stock dealer, was totally destroyed by (iro early this morning. At the time of the outbreak the house was unoceupied, Mrs. Cooper and her children having been in 'Wellington for a week, while Mr, Cooptfr left afternoon for Palmerston North. Nothing was saved. The building was insured.
