FIRE ON A MOTOR BOAT. A PERILOUS EXPERIENCE. Timaru, April 14. A fisherman named Gundcson went out m a motor boat at 4 a.m. 11 alone. A milo past the outer mole sometlf'ftg went wrong, and a benzine explosion occurred. The boat was set on fire. The man threw water on the flames, but this proved ineffectual, awl the boat's sides began to burn. Gundeson was driven to the bow., He was just about to jump overboard and swim ashore when another motor rescued him. The burning boat was taken in ,tow, but sank before the shore was reached. G-undeson was badly burned about the hands and arms. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAMCAR. '* Auckland, April 14. . An elderly man, whose namo is unknown, was knocked down in AYelle'sley Street by a, tramcar this evening, and received injuries from- which he died whilst being coaveyed to tho hospital.
