At Lancaster, James Alexander I'ettigrew (4G), dental surgeon, was sentenced to six months' hard labour for neglecting his four children at Harrow-iii-Furnoss. It win stated that since his wife's death at White haven two years ago prisoner had neglected his family, who were- starving, and became verminous, l'ettigrew's salary was up to thrco guineas i>er week from a Barrow iirm, but ho spent most of tho money, it was said, in drink.
