HUTT VALLEY COURSING CLUB.
The Easter meeting of the Hntt Valley Coursing Club was begun on Saturday on the club's course at Wallaceville, and will be completed to-day. There was a fair attendance of spectators, and the weather though marred by slight showers was not sufficiently bad to interfere with the events. The Maiden Stake of .£4O was divided as follows-.—First dog £25, runnerup £5, third dog £i, three dogs £2 each. The hares, which included some extra strong animals from Palmerston North, gave excellent sport, and several tot home. A number of the dogs showed great promise, chief among them being Pelorus Yet, Battle Gift, Split Link, Dominion, Maheno, and Freedom. Twenty dogs competed. The first and second rounds were completed. The conclusion of the contests will take place this morning and afternoon, when a sweepstake will also be arranged. The officials of tho day were the following:— President, Mr. J.. E. Fitzgorald; judge,. Mr. J. B. Lopdell; slipper, Jlr. A. Adams;,-slipper-steward and identification steward, Mr. J. Sullivan; secretary, Mr. T. Tyrec; treasurer, Mr. C. .Gough. The day's courses resulted as follow First Course.—S. Matterson's Massey Harris beat ,1. D. Graham's Matipo; 3—2;.1. .farrett's Blue Blot beat F. Burton's Brazen Boy, 4—2; H. Coleman's Warrigal beat J. Williamson's White Flyer, 4—3; J. and 111,I 11 , Prestidge's Pelorus Yet beat H. Physick's Sinbad the Sailor, 4—3; H. Williams's Battle Gift obtained a bye through tho absence of Miss Matsou's Wednesday; J. and F. Frestidge's Split Link beat H. 13. Card's Full Hand, s—l; C. Gough's Dominion beat J. Brosnahan's Tolstoi. 14—3; J. Cunningham's Maheno beat .T, and F. Prestidge's Pelorus Lady, 11—0; H. Coleman's Freedom secured a bye through tho late arrival of E. .T. Sapsi'ord's Gold Dust; H. Pearce's Christmas Eve beat A. Pepper's General Kuropatkin. 4j—3; C. Gough's Taipoita beat H. Coleman's Necklace, 4—2.
