In tho qualifying round for tho championship liurncs (Auckland) returned a good score of 81. Ngamotu Club won tho teams match for tho second time in succession, with 353, liawcra (308) being second. Chrlstcliurch, April 10. Tho golf championship of Canterbury was won this afternoon by the present Mr. T. C.. Rutherford, with a scorc of jt and 79. Mr. 11. C. Smith was nimier-up with 79 and 79. . ' WELLINGTON CLUB'S ANNUAL DEPORT. In view of tho i'net that tho clubhouse Ims only just been erected, it is not deemed necessary this year to write off anything for depreciation 011 buildings, hut this is an item, continues the report, that will havo to be provided for, in future. Tho subscriptions for tho ensuing season will of necessity have to bo increased.' At the beginning of last season tho coimnitfceo, received tho sum of X2lO Gs. lid. from tho original syndicate, representing the balanco of profit on tho salo of sections facing the main road. Debentures on J3200 wero issued to tlio members of tho syndicato in proportion to their guarantees. During tho year the work of improving tho links has been pushed ahead, so that thoro now only remains the work of formation of bunkers, construction of new tees, and further improvements to tlio greens, all of which will rcceivo tho attention of tho new committco. Last season 39 playing members and 1G nonplaying mombors wore elected, while five resignations wero recoivod, bringing tho total membership up to 222 playing members, 64 noil-play* ing members, and 30 country members.
