Sir,—lll the published reports of Mr. Bolton's speeches I notice that lie approves of the establishment of fish, fruit, and vegetable markets, and at the same time poses as an apostlo of economy, and expresses the hope that if elected ho will be a factor in the reduction of rates. If Mr. Bolton is sincere in the above desire, will he at his next or later meetings tako the ratepayers into his confidenco and go into details, which should include possible site, cost of same with suitable buildings, tho scopo of operations, anticipated revenue, and, what is more important, tho expenditure Feeling as I do that the schemo if carried out must result in failure, with tho loss of thousands of pounds of the ratepayers' money, I sound this note of interrogation. It is easy to talk of markets, but more difficult, owing to Wellington's unsatisfactory environment, to make them pay.—l am, etc., y_B i April 5.
