UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT.
The students.visiting Wellington for the eighth annual university tournament arrived ' n , Wellington yesterday and on Thursday. They will be given a civic reception this morning at tho Concert Chamber of the Tow n Mall, when Mr. J. P. Luko (in the absence from .town of bis Worship the Mayor) will represent the civic authorities. The programme for tho various functions to follow the reception to-day and on tho succeeding days is as follows:— SATURDAY, APRIL 10. _Morniiig and afternoon—At Wellington' Club s courts, Palmer Street, lawn tennis championship matches. 7.45—At Concert Chamber, Town Hall debating contest. Subject: "That the creation of small navies for defence purposes should bo encouraged in the solf-govcnihg States of the Empire." Judges: His Excellency. Lord Plunket, K.C.V.0.: his Honour Mr.- Justice Denniston, and Mr. J. W Joynt, M.A. SUNDAY, APRIL 11. , Meeting of students at St. John's Hall at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. A special service for students at St. John's; MONDAY, APRIL 12. 9.30 a.m.-At Athletic Park, ladies'' key match, Victoria College v. Canterbury College. J Morning and afternoon—At Basin Reserve ' athletic championships. ' 6.45 p.m.—-Kroni l-'orry Wharf, picnic and concert at Day s Bay. . TUESDAY, APRIL 13. 9.30 a.m.-At Athletic Park, ladies' hoc'key match, Victoria College v. Otano University ' fa .
