SOME CONCESSIONS.TO NEW ZEALAND. DAVIS CUP. INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS, (nv Tui.EGiuni—γ-hess AssociATroN-corißiam.) Melbourne, April 7. Tho Lawn Tennis Association of Victoria has decided in favour of conceding to New Zealand a separate Council,, independent of the Australasian Association, for the purpose of arranging and managing international contests for tho Davis Cup, to be played in Australia or New Zealand, the profits of those matches to bo reserved exclusivoly for international teams' purposes. Tho claim of the New Zealand Association for equal representation with the six States of Australia on a suggested new Council was not approved, but it was agreed that tho number of delegates' bo on" a proportional basis, calculated on the population of the respective States and of the Dominion of New Zealand. ~ , , CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The Wellington lawn tennis tournament commences at t1.30 on Uio Thonulon courts tomorrow morning when nlay in both tho senior and junior championships will be proceeded with. All those players who havo not stated their intention not to play on Good Friday must bo on '.he courts at the appointed hour. Tho entries aro numerous and tlie quality of the players 6£ a high standard. Misses Nunneley, Ward, Travers, Wellwood, and Gray (of the, New Zenland-ladies' team) will be amongst the competitors; also Swanston, Peacock, fisher; Rico (ex-New South, Wales champion), and Blair (ex-<!oubles champion o£ Victoria). Players who do not receive their tickets of admission by to-day's delivery, will receive same on application to the gatoman. Play in the junior events will take place on the Brougham Hill Club's courts, off I'iyio Street, on the Saturday, whilst tho senior events will be continued at Thorndon. Programmes will bo on r.ale at the courts. Tho officials for the meeting are:—Referee, H. M. Gore; Management Committee, B. R. Keesing, H. >\. Robertson, F. A. Lewis, J. F. O'Leary, and C. E.
