A ROYAL SHOW.
Advocating the establishment of a Eoyal Show in.New Zealand, Mr. Murphy, F.L.S.', in his presidential address to the Canterbury A. and P. Association, said that many agriculturists were of opinion that the time had • now arrived when the idea . should .be revived. It was more than probable that tho matter would be fully discussed at the Agricultural Conference. A council consisting of members of the various metropolitan associations throughout the Dominion arrange fixtures, and the show should be held annually in thoso centres where a sufficient monetary inducement was offered by the residents. A sum of about £1500 would be required to supplement the prizo sheot from the subscribed funds. He would not . advocate asking the Government for monetary assistance, but, seeing that two-thirds of tho revenue of tho Dominion was drawn from tho agricultural and pastoral pursuits and kindred industries, the Government might reasonably be asked to hank all stock, proceeding to and returning from tho Royal Show. A grand sale of pedigree stock could bo hold, when breeders and others would have tho pick of tho land to soleet from. That alone would bo a great inducement to breeders to send their stock to the show.
