This afternoon tho Otago Acclimatisation Soeioty had before them some of tho figures showing tho year's operations in tho matter of distributing fry and yearlings. It was reported that 1.297,000 fry and 14,850 yearlings have boon placed in tho various streams. Tho fry were composed of 571,000, brown trout, 305,000 Loch Levon trout, and 12,500 rainbow trout. Of tho yoarlmgs Ihero wore 4500 brown trout, 8000 Loch Lovcn trout, 1500 rainbow trout, and 850 Lake ISlagdon trout. There wero also 35,000 fry retained in tho ponds at Clinton and 300 Lalto Blagdon trout at Opoho. Thoro wero also 300 trout of various ages and species from Clinton put in tho Molyncux at Stirling. Mr. Ivcrsen, ouo of tho biggest fruitgrowers in Central Otago (Conroys Gully), told tho Acclimatisation Society this afternoon that tho ljttlo owls imported had completely coped with the small-bird pest. Before their arrival ho said ho had given up all liopoof coping with tho irds, and his orchard was going to ruin. Similarly, tho crops no longer suffered.
