A BANKRUPTCY.
Tho first meeting of creditors in tho bank< rupt estato of Sophia Louisa White, widow, | was held yesterday before Mr. A. Simpson (Official Assignee) and six creditors. The amount owing .unsecured creditors totalled XIG2 13s. Bd., against which.furniture valued at .£75 was tho only asset. Tho deficiency was thus JIB 7 13s. Bd. Tlio principal creditors wero:—Fielder and Co.. <CG7 Is. lid., H. W. Pownall .£'3o, and J. R. Eraser JCSI 10s. There wers no secured creditors. In a written statement Mrs. White sot out that she was compelled to seek tho protection of tho Court, as Mr. Fielder sent a bailiff to seize her furniture under a distress warrant for «CGS odd. This account would have been considerably reduced, but for tlio fact that, through tho illness of herself and family, slio had to give up several nursing cases, and lost one or two others through unavoidable causes. After examination, tho Assignee adjourned tho meeting until to-day to aljiw a proposed settlement to lie arrived at.
