London, March 24. In tho House of Commons, tho UnderSecretary for tho Colonies, LieutenantColonel Seely, replying to a question respecting the heavy terminal tax on cablegrams in the Commonwealth, said tho subject would be referred to tho Commonwealth Government.
THE DEATH OF MISS CLARKE.
Calcutta, March 23. Widespread sympathy is expressed for Sir Sydenham Clarke, Governor of Bombay, ovor the death of his daughter, which followed so quickly on that of his wife. The Bombay Stato is in general mourning.
COLONIALS IN 'VARSITY ROWING CREWS.
London, March 23. In the inter-University boat race Cudmore, of Adelaide, will row as "No. 3" for Oxford, and G. E. Fairbairn, of Victoria, will act as "bow" for Cambridge. ■-
