The ltiomiers' prize for a Latin essay tas been awarded to Mr. Percy James Pearse, M.A.j scholar of Trinity College. The Thiflwall prize, ISO 9, given for the best dissertation on some historical subject, involving original research, ha 3 been awarded to Mr. Harold Mattingly, 8.A., formerly scholar of Gonville and Caiue College. Mr. ; Mattingly, who was a first-class classic in 1906-7, won the Battie scholarship in 1905 the Craven scholarship in 1906, the Chancellor s senior medal for classics in 1907 and tho Crawn Studentship in 1908. ' The.Rev. Professor R. H. Kennett has been appointed Chairman of Examiners for the Languages Tripos. Tho Vice-Chancellor is to be appointed to represent the university on the occasion of the celebration in July, 1909, of the 350 th anniversary of the foundation of the University of Geneva.
