Auckland, March 22. At a meeting of tho Newmarket Borough Council to-night it was resolved —"That in view of the serious state of affairs in regard to tho Navy requirements, this l council places on record its appreciation of the action of the Ministry in offering to present tho Imperial Government with a battleship, believing as it does that tho whole fundamental basis of peace and the security of tho Dominion of New Zealand in particular is founded 011 the strength of tho British Navy."
