Morpeth, of Wellington, states that the following fire insuranco claims have been settled Binco the- beginning of this month:— Taihap© £10,000 Ashhurst, £3,000 Norsewood £3,000 'Harbour Board shed, Wellington (the bulk held in Lloyds) £30,000 Palmersfcon Royal Hotel lire, including furniture and effects £8,000 Foilding, dwelling £500 Linton, dwelling £400 Total £54,000 Other fires havo occurred in Mr. Morpeth's district, but ho was not acting in them, and theso includo two in Palmerstoli, Pipiriki House (£G00O), and Virtue's, Wellington, £8000. In no caso was there an entirely conclusive explanation of the origin of the firo.
