OUR PASTORAL INDUSTRY.
Our pastoral industries provide almost the whole of our agricultural exports. This moans also that they provide nearly tho whole of all New Zealand's exports. Wool, of course, is largely responsible for this, but tho frozen meat trade also takes a big share in it. At present tlicro arc engaged in tho meat export trade in Australia and Now Zealand no fewer than 49 moat works where cattle and sheep—principally the latterarc r.laughtcrod and frozen for export. During last year these establishments oxnorted 2,587,605* sheep carcasses, 4,174,2-17 lambs, 394,931 quarters of beef, and sundry other meats and by-products, tho great bulk of .which was shipped to Great Britain.
