QUARANTINE.
THE COEINTHIC'S SICK PASSENGERS. Every precaution will bo taken by the Department of Public Health in connection with tho outbreaks of scarhtina and measles, which are reported as having occurred on the R.M.S. Corinthic, duo hero this afternoon. When tho vessel left Hobnrt it was reported by cable to Wellington that there woro five 'scarlatina patients and tl measles patients on board, besides U "contacts." Just what the position will bo when tho steamer enters Port Nicholson is, of course, known at present only to those on board, but tho "contacts," and probably tho measles sufferers also, will be quarantined at Somes Island for a month, while tho fever patients will bo treated at the fever ward of tho Wellington Hospital. The Health Department has mado complete preparations for tho comfort of thoso who will be obliged to spend a jjiiet holiday on Somes Island. The \ other passengers will bo allowed to land with , ns little delay as possible, and the steamer after ] disinfection with formalin spray will proceed to ' work her cargo as usual.
