Baby's Aid Society. , A meeting of tho Society, for the Promotion :of the Health of Women, and Children was held at the" Town Hall Committee Room yesterday afternoon. Thero wcro present: Dr. Platts-M ills, who presided, and Mesdames Fell, Corrigan, Etherington, and M'Vicar. Tho Plunket Nurso reported that there had been eighteen new cases for tho preceding fortnight, and that the work was in a very satisfactory condition. Contributions were, received as follow:—Mr. . Bell,, £25; Messrs. Skerrett and Wylio, £5 55.; Mesdames Hassell, Sinclair, Etherington, M'Vicar, and Dr. Hay, ss. each; collected at Mrs. Holgate's At Home, 12s. A Farewell Tea. ■ ; A charming little tea was given on Thursday afternoon by Mrs. Parker for her mother, Mrs. Kennedy Macdonald, -who leaves next Friday for a visit to England. The guests invited wore all old friends of Mrs. Macdonald's, and they spent a lery pleasant afternoon, between conversation, music, and fortune-telling. Mrs. Parker: wore a dainty frock of white embroidered muslin, and Mrs. Macdonald wore a handsome gown of black chantilly lace over white silk, appliqued- with black velvet in large floral design, and a black hat with, white plumes. _ Among the guests were Lady Ward, Mrs. Findlay, Mrs. Seddon, Mrs. John Blundell,' Mrs. Henry \Blundell, Mrs. Bridson,' Mrs. Stevenson, Mrs. Patterson, Sirs. R. Smith; Mrs. P..P. Webb, Mrs. Phmmer, Mrs. M'Arthur, Mrs. M'Villy, Mrs. Christie, Mrs.- Arthur,-Mrs. Mee, and Mrs. T, Hamer. Carden Party. In .connection: with the Convention of the W.C.T;U., a. garden party is to., beld - this afternoon at Mr; Keerie's grounds/ Island Bay, when no doubt a number of peoplo will be glad to Havo the opportunity of meeting the delegates to the convention. .Miss Street, and Miss Rooks, from Auckland, w*ho are on their way home from Haka--taramea, are'staying at* the Grand Hoteluntil Monday, when they return to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Riddiford left for a trip to Australia by the Moeraki yesterday. Mr. and Mrs.. H. Nathan by the Moeraki.for a prolonged tour of Australia. The W.C.T.U. of New, Zealand are holding services on Sunday evening at 8.30 o'clock, in the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church and Newtown Trinity Methodist Church. . The speakers' are advertised elsewhere, and all who. are in sympathy with the splendid work done by this 1 union ought to hear them. The collections' will be in aid of the convention fundj.-
Sirs, and Miss Wentworth, from: Sydney, who have been on a tour to the lakes, returned to Australia yesterday. - _Mrs.' Walter ' Srott, who has been on a visit' to the south, returns to Napier by the express .to-day. ■ Mrs. Seaville arrived in Wellington from Auckland , yesterday, and leaves for South America by' the lonic. Among those; down at the wharf to bid farewell 'to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Izard, who' left-for England yesterday, were Sir Joseph' and Lady Ward, and Miss Ward, and many other friends. ;Miss M. Hopper, who is retiring from service under the Education Board, after holding the position of; infant mistress of the Grafton district school, -Auckland, for-' 35' years, a record v for New Zealand, is to be made a suitable* presentation, -a meeting, of Grafton old 'boys having appointed a committee to _carry, out i.that. object., ..Mr. ~J. Patterson is 'the 1 secretary of the committee. It is interesting ;to note that between 3000 and 4000 pupils have passedthrough) Miss Hopper's hands. 'The Misses Farrell, of Sydney, have returned to Wellington after a,trip to Rotorua, and ,the ,-Wanganui. River.. Misß Olive Farrell is the guest of Mrs; Samuel, and her sister is visiting Mrs.' Watson, on the. Terrace. On Wednesday last,_ at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Miller, of Karori, Miss ; C. A. Grundy, of Liverpool, England, was married to.Mr. J:-G.' Williams, of Karori. Miss Grundy arrived in New%Zealand by the last Sydney' boat. Mrs. Lennard;. from' Wangariui, with her son, left yesterday;,by the Mojraki for Sydney, where thay will -join the Asturias for England.. They expect to be away for a year, and will tour England and the Continent.'
