SWIMMING.

WELLINGTON CENTRE CARNIVAL. The committee of the Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. have all arrangements for the championship carnival at Te Aro Baths to-day well in hand. Experienced officials are to be in charge of the gathering, and there should be •no lost timo between cveuts. The 100 Yards and 440 Yards Provincial . Championships are expected to be closely contested, especially the former, in which any ono of the four entrantsRoberts, Healy, Ronayne, and Freyberg—may score a win. The schoolboys will also contest their championship races over 50 and 100 yards, and the program ne will also include diving and life-saving contssts, besides the usual handicap . races. A band has been engaged, and afternoon tea is-to l>o served by a special' sub-committee. A connc interlude has been arranged, and piomises to cause a good deal of amusement. Swimming.sports in connection with tho Masterton School were held to-day, and passed off very successfully. The following wero the results in tho most important events:—2s Yards Handicap (boys 14 years and over): E. Wickens, 1; W. Pendray, 2. 25 Yards Handicap (under 14): C. Jarrett, 1; S. Porter, 2. 75 Yards Handicap: G. Foreman, 1; E. Wickens. 2. School Championship, 50 yards: E. Wickens (gold medal) 1; Hugh Fraser, 2. Time 41 2-ssec. Jun- \° T Championship, 25 yards: C. Jarrett. 1: 11. Te Tau, 2. Diving (senior boys): It iarr. Diving (junior boys): H. Devonport. Rescue ovent: E. Wickens.
