In order to test tlie practicability of nmploying motor-cars in time of warfare, the Automobile Association conveyed a battalion of Guards, at full strength, with its baggage, from London to Hastings, oil tin south coast, in threo and a half hours, Two hundred; and eighty-six cars and twenty-eight lorries wero employed. The column on the liiovo .was seven miles long. Only a few minor mishaps occurred duriug tho journey.
