THE NEW CABINET MINISTERS.

WHAT THE W.C.T.U. THINKS OF THEM. To say that the recent appointments to the Cabinet an> not to the liking of the Womon's Christian Temperance Union is to put the matter mildly, in tho annual report of tho union, read at the meeting yesterday, the following appears under tho heading "Political":—"Unhappily the recent general election was' the means of relegating to private life the Hon. It. M'Nab, who was unsuccessful at the polls. His defeat necessitated a new appointment to the Ministry, as also' did the acceptance of tho High Commissionership by the Hon. Hall-Jones, and the Hon. M'Gowan's resignation. All the changes made a rearrangement of portfolios necessary, and the Cabinet was reconstructed. To say that tho new appointments aro satisfactory to tho progressives, or to tho party of lleform, would bo far from the truth. In fact, Sir Joseph Ward Booms to have gone- out of his way for the purpose of showing contempt for those who stand for the defence of all that is best in national life. Indeed, more than one of the now appointments may bo classed as discreditable. . ... Tho 'Prime Minister, by these appointments, has certainly not gained the respect or cohudonco of'those who have the good of tho country at heart."
