Mitchell and King had been accepted out of twelve received for tho crection of new offices for tho company on tho sito of the recentlydemolished block on the corner of Johnston Street and Customhouse Quay. Tho building, which will havo a frontago to Johnston btreot of Oift. and one to Customhouse Quay cf 85ffc., will consist of four stories and a basement, and is to cost a little over £40,000. 'i'he plana of Messrs. Crichton and Sl'Kav (of Wellington) provide for a very handsome building in red brick, with facings of Sydney brick (of a pale purplg tint) and content, which are so designed to make the building attractive to the eye, whilst not robbing it of its substantial apper.ro.ncc. A goods elevator is provided in another part of tho building, adjaccnt to tho cart dock on tho Johnston fetrcet frontage. All the offices aro to be spacious, lofty, and well lighted.
