AT PAHIATUA, A meeting of llio inlcrim commilteo of th» proposed Agricultural and Pastoral Society at i'aliiatun was hold on Tuesday evening,' when Mr. J. A. Walsh, the acting-secrctary, reported that some 170 gentlemen had so far agreed to bscoino members. Captain J. B. Whyte and Messrs. J. 0. Cooper, Boyd, and K. M'Lennan ivero ap. pointed delegates to attend Iho stock salo to he held at l'ongaroa on April 2, for the purpose of meeting the farmers of the district, and arranging for stilj-commiUeos in tlio various districts: it was resolved that copies of the agreement to join the association sltould bo left at (ho offices of tlio various stock' and station agentß in the town, as also thoso of the livery stables, with a request for assistance in gaining as many signatures as possible. A further sub-coniinittoe, consisting of the chairman (Mr. Tosswill), Capt. Whyte, Messrs. J. G. Brechin, C. Avery, and J. 0. Cooper, was nppintcd to obtain information as to possible sites for a show', ground, and to report to tlio general meeting to be lielij on April G. As a matter of interest and an additional reason for holding a show it yas stated that the jimount of stock passing through the sale; yards at I'ahiatua compared favourably witli neighbouring centres, and beat both Palmerston and Masterton;' in both of which towns large shows wero held. ■ A hearty voto of thanks tp the tan- and thoso gentlemen who hail assisted with llni lists terminated the meeting.
