The senio- league first division team annexed both the Championship Shield and the Charity Cup, and the second division team, which played remarkably well, finished second in ,the championship, but only reached the .semi-* final in tho Challenge Cup. Their performance was an excellent one, as they wero probably, the lightest team in their grade. Some ihembers of the boys' team shelved great promise. Messrs. Taylor (captain), Roberts, Thor.ley, .and Keddy were selected in the Wellington representative team, which won the Brown Shield tournament in Dunedin, and junior representative honours were- gained by Messrs. The report o£ tho Wellington Referees' Association, to bo presented at the annual meeting on Wednesday nest, congratulates members on the efficient and satisfactory manner in which they have discharged their .duties during the past season. Twenty-eight meetings were held during tho year, the rvcrage attendance at the meetings being nineteen. Although the attendance of members at the weekly meetings compares favourably with'.pre-vious-years, it is considered that with a membership of 59 the' association is not getting the numbers present that it should do, and a hope is expressed Llv'it this reminder will be sufficient to bring homo to the minds of members the necessity for punctual and regular attendance in future.
The .association is .still in a financially satisfactory, condition, aiul acknowledgment is mado of. the generous assistance it h.as received from the Wellington Rugby Union. In last year's report mention was made of the fact that tho sub-branch at Petone was doing good work, but it 19- stated with regret that owing to a seeming lack of interest shown by its members .this branch, has almost become defunct It is to be hoped a strong effort will be mado to resuscitate it, and local members will bo induced to tako a more lively interest in its welfare. Notwithstanding the larqe number (416) of appointments made for -Rujrby Union matches, ,ver,v few contests lapsed through tho absence, of tho referee. Members of tho association officiated at three British matches and several inter-union games durin* the year, a fact which speaks well for tho ability of the members. ,•.;'.■. ~ stab club.. , ~;;. :. .-.. .
