A meeting of tlio Society for tho Protection of Women and Children was held on L'riday, Mrs. W. A. Evans presiding. There •vt-ro also present: Mesdames Fell and J. Kirkcaldie, and Miss Richmond. Lcavo of absence was granted to Lady Stout during jicr visit to England. Four fresh cases had been reported since last meeting, and seven '■ascs wero to be settled by Court proceedings, as 110 other moans of disposal was 1 possible. .There is also a case of children i •lemg cruelly treated to bo investigated.
