' The. funeral of .the lato Miss "Dolly" Kitchen took placo privately 011 Saturday morning, tho remains being followed to their last resting-placo by relatives and a number of schoolmates of deceased. , Many beautiful wreaths wero sent, showing tho sympathy that was felt with tho bereaved parents. There was a good attendance at a dance held on Friday evening at Parkvalo in aid of the hall funds. Visitors were present from all parts of the district, and dancing was kept up until the. early hours of Saturday morning, tho 'music being tuneful and timeful. A tasty supper was provided, and during the proceedings songs and step-dances were contributed by a number of those present. It is oxpected that the funds will benefit/to the extent of £15--as a result of the function. '

I am sorry to report that our energetic Town Clerk has to be confined to his bed for somo time. He has been ailing of late; and on Thursday last had to go to bed under doctor's orders. I hopo that a few days' rost will enable him to get about amongst us at an early date. Tho gravel that is being obtained from tho Tauheronikau River bed and crushed is of first-class, quality. . A coat about about nine inches thick is being put on from To Mairo Road to Camp Corner. Tho Featlierston Golf Club held their annual meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall on ■Friday evening. Tliore was a good attendance of members, with Mr. F. C. Everton, rotiring captain, ill tho chair. The annual report showed a debit balance of £18 6s. Tho motion to raise the subscription* to bo ablo to wipe this debit off was lost by one voto,, Mr. Allen's amendment that tho subscrip-. tions remain -as they are being carried on a show of hands. Sir. Ballan was elected captain for tho ensuing year. Tho same officers as last year wore-re-elected. Tho outgoing committco were re-elected, with tho inclusion of Mr. Everton; Messrs. Fenwick, Allen, and Toogood were elected handicap•pers. Mr. J. W. Card was unanimously reelected 'treasurer and secretary. ' It was decided to have the links prepared for play by March 17, and that the season be opened as usual on the first Saturday in April (the third);. The Feathcrston County Council held their usual monthly meeting in Martinborough on Friday, thero being present Councillors A. D. M'Leod (chairman), A. Matthews, J. Martin,. J. M'Master, J. M'Leod, F. E. Perry, T. Benton, and' A. M. Wilkinson. There was a discussion on tho proposed embankment schemo of the Kahutara River Board. As there was not a correct plan of the work in front of the council, it was decided to meet tho board on the spot of the proposed works and go over them accompanied by tho engineer, Mr. Laing-Meason. Councillor. Matthews drew tho attention of the council to tho importance, of tho Rimutaka Road to tho Government, and suggested that they should be approached for a share of the upkeep. If anything went wrong with the Rimutaka Incline this road is the only 0110 into the Wairarapa. Tho Post and Telegraph Department were compelled to use the road for their lines, and as the land about there was unrateable the road was a. burden on the whole county.' Tho chairman was not in favour of going to the Government for oferything; ho thought that eyeryono (including the Government) should bear the cost. Tho next meeting is to bo held on Wednesday, April 7, owing to the usual day falling on Easter Friday. .Heavy' rain f,ell here on Saturday morning and continued intermittently throughout the clay. :At the meeting of the Kahutara River Board it was decided- to begin the proposed stop-bank as soon as possible. The County Council was written to to got .thoir permission to utilise their roads where necessary. Tho works are to bo undertaken early in spring.
' PARAPARATJHU.
At a meeting of the members of the. Anglican Church, Paraparaumu; it was decided ! to adopt St. Paul as its Patronal Saint. The church will, therefore, henceforth bo known as St. Paul's Church. Mr. Leonard Howell was elected secretary of tho Church.
