Mr. Hutchison, S.M., to-day fined a young mail named Albert Bond £10, in default one month's imprisonment, for purchasing liquor for consumption in a No-Licoiiso area without giving to the vendor his name and address ill writing. It is likel.v an attempt will bo mado to upset tho conviction. Bond was the other day acquitted on a charge of sly grog-selling. A charge heard to-day against Margaret Crook of sly grog-selling was dismissed. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY. Clirlstohurch, March 12. Tho Director of Geological Survey (Dr. J. M, Bell), who has just returned l'rom a southern tour, states that tho copper dci»sits of tho Aniseed Valley, Nelson, aro being studied, and that a topographical survey of tho Karamea district is being made.
