(FROM ODR SPECIAL IlErOnTEn.) ■■ » • HUTT PARK COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Hutt Park Committee held last evening it was decided to tax Messrs. Stafford nnd TreadwclJ's account, and then forward it to tho Borough Councils for their consideration. The chairman (Mr. W. R. Russell) -reported having interviewed Mr. A. Pcarco, chairman of the old trustees, who stated his willingness to collect back rent owing to the committee. Tho Public Trust Office,were granted the use of the park on St. Patrick's Day. HUTT VALLEY TRAMWAYS. Several matters previously referred to were touched upon at last evening's meeting of tho Hutt Valley Tramways Board. In regard to Mr. Findlay's proposal re cartage of coals by trmways, it was decided to invite the co-operation of the Fctonc Bqrough Council. Mr. Hawthorn read comparisons between the Wanganui tramways and tho local scheme in support of his contention that success would be attained by the general adoption of the engineer's scheme. Tho meeting-rejected a motion which proposed that, the Harbour Board bo asked to support a proposal to lay down a lino of rails on tho Pctone Wharf. BILLIARD MATCH. At tho Upper Hutt Billiard Saloon on Thursday evening an exhibition game of 750 up was played between the well-known, professional, J. W. Read, of Wellington, and .1 local player, who was conceded 450 points. Read was very consistent with breaks of 50 and GO. The final Bcoros wore—Read 750, local player 715. Afterwards Read gave a display of fancy and masse strokes, which wcro much appreciated. JOTTINGS. A recount of tho Hutt Licensing Committee- poll was made- yesterday in tho Oddfellows' Hall, Petone, in the presenco of Mr. J. W. M'Ewan, J.P. A few irregularities wore found in tho returns, but tho slight amendments do not affect tho result already announced. Boforo Mr. John Cudby, J.P., at tho Lower Hiitt Police- Court yesterday morning, Arthur Midgway pleaded guilty to a charge- of drunkenness. Ho was fined 205.,. in default 48 hours' imprisonmont. Only one tender, that of Messrs. Pitcaithly and Co., was received by tho Hutt River Board for the right to remove shinglo from beaches number 1, 2, 3, and 5. The tender, which'was for £445 per annum, was accepted. For beach number 4 the tenders to hand wore Messrs. Pitcaithly £52, Mr. Gosse £60, and Lowor Hutt Borough Council £75. Tho highest was accepted. The tender of Messrs. S. Brown, Limited, for supplying turpentine piles was accepted.
