THE WATER SUPPLY.
• Inquiry was made- at last night's meeting of the City Council by Councillor Fisher, as to whether the difficulty which residents of Mortimer Torraco were under through inability to secure water in tho early mornings could bo rectified. Reference was also made by Councillor Fletcher to a similar difficulty which was experienced "by • resident*' of Karori Crescent. They were uuablo, lie' said, to get water until 7.30 o'clock each morning. The Mayor pointed out that residents _in those localities would find tanks essential in the circumstances. Ho had installed a small tank at his own residence. The City Engineer said , ho did not know how the difficulty in either caso could be
met —at any rate at the present time. Hα agreed that residents who wero in the position stated would do well to instal a small tank'in each of their properties.
Inquiries mado alter the meeting elicited the fact that it will bo necessary, before the difficulty can be overcome, for tho council to construct somo high-level reservoirs, at a cost of about £800 each, for the purpose of meeting the requirements of. the peoplo on ■tho high lprels. . . . ,'
