As the breeding pens wcro carefully selected for useful, quail-, ties, while being good types of their respec-. tivo breeds, farmers who obtained birds from tho stations this summer would; bo supplied with what would continue tho improvement ( which had already been effected in tho goneral quality of tho poultry of the country. Next season's breeding pens would bo composed entirely of trap-nested liens,, with males of proved laying pedigree. Tho laying of the hens ou the farm in tho last season showed further improvement on previous yields. From the cull birds a selection wbb being made for an exhibit of dressed poultry at tho forthcoming Shepherd s Bush Exhibition at London. Some new buii dingsi had recently been erected, almost entnely by tho boys, whoso workmanship was excellent, llio ga'rden had been improved by deep trenching, which in many cases involved tho use of picks, tho natural soil at Burnham forming onlv a very thin stratum over shmglo The vegetables and flowers showed a growth to which this part of the; Plains had, hitherto boon a stranger. Vegetables from hero were supplied to several other Government institutions.
