SICILIAN EARTHQUAKE.
ITALY THANKS NEW ZEALAND. Tho Premier has received the following cablegram from Signor Giolitti, l'rcmior of "I thank you feelingly in the name of the Government'and nation of Italy for tho generous contribution of the citizens of New Zealand in assistance of the sufferers in tho recent earthquake. i -'GIOLITTI, "President of tho Council of Ministers." Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, liuckle Street, yesterday morning for the victims of the Italian earthquake. The Yen. Archdeacon Dovoy was tho celebr.int, Rev. Father Venning deacon, Rev. Father Peoples sub-deacon, and Rev. Father Herbert master of ceremonies. A chorus of priests sans the music of tho Mass under tho direction of Father Mahoncy. There was a large congregation, tho Italian Consul and tho Rev. Dr. Capra, of Milan, being present.
