« DEPOSITIONS TAKEN. (DY TELEGIIAI'U—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) Palmerston North, March 9. The repositions of William M'Gonagle, who was injured in the railway acciacnt at Marton on Saturday night, were taken this morning by Captain Mowlem, coroner, SubInspector O'Donovan also being present, representing tho police. Though M'Gonaglo's condition is very serious, there is nevertheless some prospect that he will recover. IMPELLED BY PAIN. (BY TEl.EGlUrh—rilESS ASSOCIATION.) Hokitika, March 9. The body of a man named W. J. Duggan, aged 75, an old resident in the Ivanieri district, was discovered at tho bottom of tho Hokitika River this morning. It was evidently a case of suicide, as a heavy window weight was attached to the body. Deceased complained yesterday of severe pains, and spoke of ending his troubles. He had recently been discharged from hospital. SAWMILL .ACCIDENT. Hokitika, March 9. Lincoln, the man injured in a sawmill accident yesterday, recovered consciousness today, and rccognisod members of his family. Ilis injuries are most severe. DEATH ON A TRAWLER. Dunedin, March 9. A man named Andrew Rasmussen, one of the hands employed on the trawler Express, died somewhat suddenly on Monday on board that vessel.. Tho trawler returned to Port Chalmers from the fishing grounds at seven o'clock on Sunday evening, when Dr. Hodges was summoned to attend the deceased, but tho man succumbed shortly after midnight. • THROWN FROM A HORSE. Dunedin, March 9. Stephen Wood, a young man, was thrown from his horso at Woodhaugh to-night, and killed instantly.
