In, tho case of Joseph Hannonj charged with horse stealing, prisoner was discharged, tho judge stopping the caso owing, to the oontradictory nature of the evidence of the principal witness, whom his Honour severely kotured for insobriety. Norman MLeod was convicted of horse stealing and sentenced to two' years' imprisonment. ■ In tho charge against Edward Boniface >of burglary, .the jury failed to agree and were discharged. James Straker Jackson.was convicted of assault and sentenced to six months' imprisonment. ' ■ . James Garretty was found guilty of tho theft from the person on the steamer Manuka on April, 1908. This, was his third trial. Sentenco was deferred until to-day. William James Knight, charged with arson at Tolago Bay, was discharged without tho defence being called on. Messrs. J. R. Kirk and L. T. Bumard appeared for accused. Invercargill, March 5. At the Supreme Court to-day, when the caso of Dinah Harraway (Bumsido) versus J. O. M'Konzie (Riversdale), claim £1100 for breach of promise, was called on, plaintiff's counsel explained that a settlement had been arrived at between tho parties. William Kennedy (Drummond) claimed £-100 damages from Malcolmn Bros. (Bayswnter) for alleged breach of contract to buy land. Tho case was unfinished when the Court rose.
