PENGUIN RELIEF FUND.

THE POSITION AT DUNEDIN. A DIFFICULTY. (ar TELiaRAra— special correspondent.) Dunetlin, March 5. A meeting of tho executive of tho Shipwreck Relief Society of New Zealand was held to-day to deal with a hitch that has arisen in regard to tho Penguin Relief Fund. Tho Mayor of Wellington had wired to tho society for a donation to this fund, but, on consulting their solicitors, tho society found that the articles precluded this being done, Mr. J. H. Hosking's advice- being that tho society should appoint a sub-committco in Wellington to administer any moneys apportioned by tho society for tho relief or _ tho sufferers by the Penguin disaster. Inquiries havo been, sot on foot, and the opinion was expressed this morning that they indicated that any grant by tho society would bo properly administered. Tho mooting appointed a sub-eommittoo to complete arrangements as to tho administration of a grant, and empowered them to forward n substantial sum of some hundreds of pounds to Wellington. Half an hour will bo taken up at tho beginning of tho ovoning with biograph piotuies and a few words from Mr. J. Moore, of tho Missions to Seamen. In tho gymnasium afterwards a display will bo given of ball-punch-ing gymnastic dancing, elephant jumping, ami po'o Jumping by Bovpral New Zealand chamnious.
