SWIMMING.

'THORNDON CLUB'S CARNIVAL

The Thorndon Swimming Club's eleventh annual carnival will take place at the Thorndon -Baths to-morrow afternoon, and from present indications the gathering promises to be ono of the most successful in the historv of the club. The programmo is an attractive one, and the entries received easily constitute a record. The two Thorndon men—Healy and Ronayne—who wero successful in securing all the New Zealand championships at Timaru last month, will bo competing in a number of events, and B. C. Freyberg, F. Robert's, R. Nelson, and several other prominent swimmers will also be among the competitors. The 400 yards handicap has drawn 21 entries, and in this , event Healy and Freyberg will again meet. Items new to Wellington, and which should provide much amusement, are tho musical lifebuoys and the 'submarine race. A ladies' race occupies a place on the programme, and Miss Cunningham is to give an exhibition of swimming and diving. Acrobatic exhibitions on the roman rings and trapeze, high-and springboard diving, will add to the attractions. Afternoon tea is'to be provided free, and a string band will be in attendance.
