A call was received by the Fire Brigade at 4.20 p.m. yesterday to a seven-roomed boardmghouse, No. 63 Cambridge Terrace occupied by Misses F. Owen and M. Egan, and owned by Mr. F. Sidey. .A front room and contents were .slightly damaged. The insurance on the contents was £100 in the State Office, OUTBREAK AT JOHNSONVILLE. Another fire occurred in the Manawatu yesterday, when two shops in tho Main Street at Johnsonville were destroyed. Tho outbreak started in a bootmaker's*shop, occupied by Mr. T. J. Leighton, who had recently removed from Molesworth Street, Wellington. Tho firo subsequently spread to tho adjoining premises of Mr. D. Morgan, fruiterer. The two buildings, which wore owned by Mr. T. Bould, were totally destroyed. The shop of Mr. T. Julius, tobacconist, 011 tho other side of the road was scorched, but a bucket brigade prevented serious damage. A good deal of Mn Morgan's furniture was saved. Tho insurances were £375 on Mr. Leighton's building, and £250 on Mr. Morgan's building, both covers being in the State Office.
