GORE-WAIKAKA RAILWAY.

PRESENTATION. TO MR. W. FRASER, M.P. (by telegram—fkess association.) Coro, March 3. To-day tho Hon. J. A. Millar opened the Gore-Waikaka railway in the presenco of a large number of people. From M'Nab Junction the distanco is thirteen miles, and the total cost will bo about £70,000, of which £50,000 was found by debentures. It passes through good agricultural land, closely settled, with dredging all along tho route, whilst lignite is found and worked more or less all over the district. In connection with the opening, tho residents of AVaikaka entertained Mr. W. Eraser, M.P. for Wakatipu, in recognition of his strenuous advocacy of tho project. A presentation of a purse of sovereigns was made.
