M'Konzie at Thames, tho Hon. J. A. Miliar is on routo for Invercargill, tho Hon. A. W. Hogg cn routo for Stratford, and tho Hon. A. T. Kgata is duo in Wellington this afternoon. Tho Hon. C. M. Lulco lias been unwell for tho past week. Ho was slightly .hotter yesterday. Sir Joseph Ward leaves for tho south tonight. Ho will visit Christehurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill, and will probably return to Wellington.next Sunday morning. At a meeting of tho South Wairavapa County Council, held on Saturday, Mr. Herbert, of Wellington, was appointed county engineer, There wore eighteen applicants. Tho Rev. Georgo Manifold, 15.A., who has been ministering at Ashburton for the past two years, has accepted a call to the pastorate of the Church of Christ, in Hobart, Tasmania.—Press Association. Tho Hon. D. liuddo, Minister for Public Health, will probably leave for tho north about the end of this .week, in order to visit To Waikato Sanatorium for Consumptives, near Cambridge, and the Karero camp for ex-patients. Mr. Waymouth, who lias resigned his position as manager of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, expects to bo away until next October. , Tho Hon. R. Ashbolt, who is leaving tho company's employ to tako up a position in Melbourne. Mr. Ashbolt was tho recipient of a travelling portmanteau, and a' set of hair-bruslies, suitably inscribed. In making the presentation tho secretary (Mr. Helliwell) spoke of tho, high esteem in which Mr. Ashbolt was hold. Mr. Ashbolt leaves Wellington for Melbourne by tho Maheno on March 4. Tho Rev. John Dawson, who lias had charge of the Webb Street Primitive Methodist Church for twelve years, and is vacating tho pastorship to tako up No-Licenso work, preached his farewell sermon last evening to a fargo congregation. Mr. Dawson stated that lie had tried in his feeblo way to set forth truth and beauty. He had emphasised most tlio truths that had appealed to him, and had sought to liyo up to tho Gospel 110 had preached. Ho appreciated tho honour involved in his long term of offico, and was glad to liavo felt so much of fellowship and brotherhood. Ho might sometimes havo been misunderstood and misrepresented, but ho had meant well. Ho advised his hearers to bo themselves, to bo content with themselves, and bo their best selves, and not to wasto timo chafing to bo something or somebody else. A farewell social will bo given to Mr. Dawson to-morow evening by tho congregation.
