Luke was sufficiently recovered from his recent' ill— •ness ,to: be present. : Li the afternoon,., the delegates drove out to Lower Hutt and spent, .a-very.enjoyable time'at Bellevue Gardens. Onthe, way, back "a-visit was made' to the. Gear? Company's works at Petone. The visitors were conducted the works'by Mr. Loddor, chief engineer, and they were very pleased to-find that'the :machinery, which on.that had through 6300 sheep, was partly of New Zealand manufacture. The ,boilers_were-built- by Messrs; S.\ Luke and Son, W. Cable and Co., and ; Sparrow (Duuedin). The, boilers fitted by Mr. Sparrow .nineteen years ago are still in good working order.,': , ■,:, ■ Officers for the ensuing year have been' elected as follow:—President, Mr. \V. Crabtree; secretary, Mr. H. P. Allen;, treasurer, Mr. John Soott, of Christchurch.. All the .vice-presidents were re-elected. A. number of important matters havebeen left. for the executive committee composed of the Wellington members' to deal with. The next conference will be hold at Auckland. Some of the delegates left to return south' last, nighty and, Messrs.. Warnocfc, Seagar and Bach, of Auckland, leave by the Main Trunk express this morning.. .
