Mr. Orton Stevens,*who held the office for four' years, has been approached, but; he has found it impossible to come forward owing to pressure, of business. The Deputy-Slayor (Councillor.' W..H. Eussell) and Mr. J. T. Hawthorne have definitely announced themselves/but Mr. E. P..Bunny, who is regarded ns a certiiinty to come forward, has made no deinite statement up to the present.. . ■ -:. •■ ■■;■■; HUTT'GOLF.CLUB; - ,; The annual meeting of the Hutt Golf Club 'was held last night, in the Town Hall Buildings, Lower Hutt, Mr. "W. :': : , HUTT SCHOOL PICNIC FUND. • -The. concert held in the Lower Hutt Town Hall, last evening .drew a :crowded" audience; and; the result will be the handing over of JCIO or so to the. school:picnic and prize fund. The items were received with every evidence of satisfaction, and encores were insisted on in quite.a.number of instances. ..Members of the Lower Hutt Dramatic Club staged a one-act play entitled "The Man in the Street;" which .was.listened to with;interest,.
