Tho Fronoh Customs' Committee declares that 87 per cent, of tho valuo of Britieh cxpqrts to France would not be affected by the projected revision of tho tariff, except where duties woro lowered, while the avcrago eurcharge on British trade would scarcely bo one-half per centum. London, February 25. In the Houso.of Commons, Mr. Churchill (President of.the Board of Trade) informedMr. Jesse Ceilings that observations had been invited from tho principal chambers of commerce and trade /associations of the United Kingdom concerning the probable effect of the revised French tariff. He added that it would be undesirable at present to make a statement regarding any further action which might be found expedient, or practicable, but the matter was receiving the most earnest attention.of the Government.
