The mission of the Redemptorisi Fathers was concluded on Sunday. Three largely-at-. tended masses were celebrated Mn St. Patrick's Church ill the morning, while in. vthe evening the Zealandia Hall.was filled with an. exceptionally large congregation, who: listened to a fine, address by Father "Lowham, and afterwards received .the blessing of Archbishop Redwood. During the afternoon 107 candjdatos presented- themselves for confirmation by the' . Archbishop, who ..briefly addressed them on, the Sacrament: of. Confirmation. Father Costello addressed the congregations :at. the masses, and.ref erred to the good work that had .been" done by thp working bees , , in connection with, the new: Convent High School-ground;.; The RevFathers Clune, Lowhara, and ' M'Dermott, left for Wellington yesterday, and will con-, duct'their next mission in the South Island..
The National Dairy Show' Committee held a.meeting on v Saturday, afternoon, ai which there were present Major Dunk (chairman), Messrs. A. Sutherland, JVBalsillio, J. .M. Johnston, J. A. M'Crea, T. : R. Hodder, and W. M'Kenzie. •'■ Ii was' resolved • to again store the cheese .exhibits afPatea. The offer of the Ngaire Dairy Company to provide -the. halfrton cheese was , accepted, , and it. was decided to; place £15 worth of coins in it. It was also resolved that.guessing com-petitions..be,.-included,'in the . programme.
