THE PENGUIN WRECK.

THREE BODIES RECOVERED AND IDENTIFIED. EIGHTEEN STILL MISSING. \ The scene of the wreck of tho Penguin was visitod by a largo numbor of people yoserday, when {hero was a heavier sea than had been expenencd for some days. Friendo of several of the missing people assisted the police in the work of searching for any bodies which might have come / ashore. • The body which was found on Friday has been idantihed as that of Forth Roth- , crham Cooke, son of Mr. Chas Cooke, bariistor and solicitor, Wanganui. Deceased, who was 20 years of age, and single, was a mess-room steward. It was at hrst believed that the body was that of George Cooper, as a discharge from the s s. Komata was found in one of his pockets. When the matter was referred to tho U S S Co' 6 ofhco at Dunedin, the following reply was / sent back:—"Can find no trace of George Cooper in our lists, nor do,, wo know who are his relatives. Ihe name does not ap- * pear on Komata lists for 12 months." On Saturday evening Mr. Gerald V. Cooke, warehouseman, Wellington Terrace, established beyond doubt that the body was that of his brother. It will be taken to Wanganui for burial to-day. . Another body was recovered on. Saturday morning and brought to Wellington on the Tera\fhiti in tho afternoon. It was identified as being that of Edwin Herbert Hall, second cook on the ill-fated vessel. Those , who attested to tho were his b?p- ---' ther, George Wm. Hall, motor-agent, ' Bnghtwater, Nolson, and Constable Jones, of the Lambton Quay station, who went to _,[ school at Bnghtwater with deceased, who was unmarried, and 30 years of ago. Tho funeral will tako placo here to-day Yesterday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, the police authorities received word that another body 'had come ashoro about two miles on •-* 1 tho Wellington side of Oterangi Bay. Tho body was attired in a pyiama suit, on tho collar of which was f.he namo, "Noel AVhito." Another circumstance which goes - to establish that the body is that of the hte Mr. "White, is that a pair of gold spectacles, similar to those which he was accustomed to wear, was found in his pocket As the sea was eo rough as to prevent tho shore being worked, arrangements were made to havo the body, which was immediatelj placed in a shell, brought overland last 7 night. Deceased, who was 20 years of ago, was a son of Mr. John White, auctioneer t and general agent, of Blenheim, and nephew i of Mr. J. E. Reade, accountant in the I Electoral Department The body will bo taken to Blenheim to-day , ii ~ , LIST OF THE MISSING. Following is a list of those whoso bodies havo not yet been recovered — Passengers: Mr. Holmes, Mr. H. J. Underwood, Jlr. Conmbe, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Jas. Collins, Miss Ivy Toomer. Officers and crew: F.
