THE ANNUAL REPORT. :• Tho' report'of ,tho .Choral Society, to bo presented at the annual meeting jon Friday,, next-,, states that. tho ; . following; works were performed ■. during the years—Juno '6, "Elijah": July 7, miscellaneous concert; August : 18, i "Judas , Maccabaous" ; August 14, "Stabat Mater" j September 16, 18, .and 19, concerts 'in'con junction l with Mr. Charles Saunders ; December 4, "Messiah"; Decom-, ber 15,» Christmas^..carols.' The society .was fortunate . iii securing the -services, of .the famous English tenor, Mr, Charles Saunders;, during. the season.The many.patrons of the society were delighted .with' his singing, and' are looking forward to his next appearance, in, three, years! time, with pleasurable: anticipations,'. The; society , has had. very , gene-' rous support from the public during the season, ana the debit balance brought forward from last year has been very. considerably reduced. The coramittce has ploasure in acknowledging the services of Mr, J, Maughan Barnott, 1 tho -conductor, - whose. good work throughout the year is reflected, not only in improved rendering of vocal music, but also by the; good.' results obtained. from tho orchestra, hence the' satisfactory attendances at. tho society's .performances. Thanks are due to'Mr:. Horace Hunt, .Mu.s, Bac., hori. accompanist j members of the orchestra, Mr. A, T. Bat© for use of room 'for. committee meetings, tho . Dresden Piano Co. for ; use of .booking office,: and to all friends who have assisted the. society' during the year, including all who assisted gratuitously on tho programme of tho miscellaneous concert held on July 17, i 1908. The "committee, ..as- recom. mended by tho last annual meeting, ..took steps to' raisefunds, for-tho purpose of procuring a set of wood-wind instruments,- and. for that purpose hold a miscellaneous con. cert during the year, but, owing, to;, inclement weather, tho net result was'; hot equal to anticipations, and no further action has, so: far;,'been taken. '. The committee would again appeal to the citizens to support tho society in its endeavours ,to raise the standard of classical mußic in tho city; During the year seventeen 'meetings of the commit-, tee were held, at which the attendance was: as, follows Mr, R, T, Caldow (chairman), 16; Mr. J. W. Barclay, 13; Mr. W. J: Hues: ton, 7; Mr. E. R. Mowbray, 15; Mr. P. B. Young, 13; Mr. N. D. Macleod (hon. lib-' rarian), 11; Mr, J, 0. Young (hon. treasurer). 1G; Mr. S, Q.
