_Last night saw 1 the ..completion'of arrangements for, the "Wellington Club's .fourteenth annual which is to' take place at Te Aro Bathsthis afternoon. . The entries received have exceeded those of any previous season'.. The Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, as usual, has received, the 'greatest {number, of, entrants, and this fixture will, require 'five heats a final, there being 50 competitors. . There are 37 .entrants, for .the ; President's Handicap, while the 440; yards fixture has drawn a big field' for so long a ! distance. Tho great interest in, this event will lie in the swimming of Healy and B. C. Freyborg, Healy will, attempt to break tho New Zealand record, 'and with the great'advantage of smooth ,yater, which the Te .Aro; Baths now afford,there. is every probability, of his doing so.Fre.vberg is swimming . well just now, and should give a very creditable account of himself. The racing will be got off sharp to time, and it will be necessary, therefore, for competitors to l>e in readiness for. their-heats* as soon as the. bell is rung.' The carnival will be under the control of tlio Hon. John Rigg, M.L.C., who will be- as-sisted'by-a capable staff. A live-saving display finds a placo on tho programme, . together with fancy diving'and water poio.
