A discovery of copper has been made on'.the eastern side of the Otamatea River up north,; and .'it is anticipated that when exploited some good 'copper ore will be'exposed. The lodes liavo only been tested on tho surface,•"so : that thoir value cannot yet.be estimated, but; a level is now being driven' lower' down ,the hill,.'.where the lodes are outcropping, and the. discoverers expect .that some '-.-valuable ;orowill be opened up. The discovery has been brought under the notice of tho lion.' R. M'Kenzie, the Minister for Public Works.
